New Client Consultation

I will arrange a free 20 minute consultation where I come to your home or office, meet with you and discuss how I can help you. Together we work out a plan of action that suits you and your lifestyle. I usually require the client to be present when I an decluttering - that is the only way I know how precious something is for you and what you would like done with each individual item. (Exceptions to this are possible, for example cleaning out kitchen cupboards with out-of-date items.) If necessary I work occasional evenings and weekends, as I appreciate that some people are hard at work during the week.

During my visit I will ask you questions so that I can gauge what you would like done, and what you would like the outcome to be e.g. preparing to move house has different requirements to general decluttering. I will also be assessing what I need to bring when I come to declutter. I provide all the bags and boxes needed, but sometimes there are additional requirements like a hoover or a ladder. I will also be looking at any hazards for my Risk Assessment form.

If you live very far away it may be more practical to do the consultation over the phone.

I will never tell you something must go, but I WILL ask you questions about whether you like or use it so that you can decide how much you want to keep things.

The Decluttering Session

I don't expect my clients to do any physical work, although they usually have to be there to direct me. Sometimes clients are surprised when I ask them to sit down, but I feel that I am being employed to do the work, and this is exactly what I do.

I ask the client to choose the area or room that would make most difference to them, or that gets them down the most.

Logically I will start with cupboards shelves and drawers so that there is room to put other things away when I come to them.

I firstly sort the possessions you like, use and want to keep, cleaning the space they belong and putting them back in a logical and convenient way, working with you so that the items you use most are placed most conveniently.

I take away as many unwanted items as I can, to charity shops (let me know if you have a favourite), to recycle, for good homes, and to the dump. I find that clients much prefer when their possessions find a new home where the item is appreciated, and I have a range of options that I can suggest. After my visit you are left with a clean and tidy space, and no junk to dispose of. The exception to this is when heavy lifting or large objects are involved, when I will arrange a charity or special uplift.

Sometimes people don't know where to start when they want to get more organised so that their house and possessions give them pleasure, and they can relax when they get home, rather than being confronted by too much to do.

It can be overwhelming just to look around and think of all the things that need to be done. Let me help, and you will be amazed at how easy and stress-free it can be.

From cupboards to kitchens to attics I will discuss your requirements and recycle your unwanted possessions where at all possible.

Let me do in a day what you have been meaning to get round to for years!
